About

      I'm Vernard, and I'm from a small town in North Carolina. I created Ebony Eyes, Inc. in 2020 to make eyeglasses more accessible to children in need.

In elementary school, we were often seated by our first names, so I was shuffled to the back of the classroom. One of my earliest memories is not participating in the lessons because I had trouble seeing the chalkboard from my back row seat. Once I received my first pair of glasses, my world changed for the better. My confidence increased, and I became more involved. That relief was short-lived when the eyeglasses broke and my family didn't have the resources for a replacement.

There was no local eye doctor, so I spent a few years navigating life without glasses until a local non-profit donated frames to children in the neighborhood. That day, I vowed to create an organization to help children in the community secure eyeglasses. Eyeglasses are the one necessity that most children only have one pair of. I'm on a mission to change that.
